Previous studies showed that a wide range of medicinal plants exerted antidiabetic effects. These plants included: Achillea santolina, Adiantum capillus-veneris, Agrimony eupatoria, Agropyron repens, Allium cepa, Allium sativum, Aloe vera, Alpinia galangal, Althaea officinalis, Anchusa strigosa, Anthemis nobelis, Arctium lappa, Artemisia campestris, Asparagus officinalis, Avena sativa, Ballota nigra, Benincasa hispida, Brassica nigra, Brassica rapa, Bryophyllum calycinum, Caesalpinia crista,Calotropis procera, Canna indica, Capparis spinosa, Capsicum annuum, Capsicum frutescens, Carum carvi, Carthamus tinctorius, Cassia occidentalis and Casuarina equisetifolia.
