Plant materials (leaves, stems, bulbs and roots) of many species of medicinal plants are used in the treatment of skin conditions and wound healing. Indigenous people are known to widely use the crude extracts of many plants. The present study was aimed to formulate and evaluate the herbal ointment consisting of aqueous extracts of Sida spinosa leaves for wound healing potential by excision wound model in wistar rats. The parameters studied include wound area and % Epithelization period. The herbal drug formulations has been observed to promote healing of wounds and are found to be extremely statistical significant and comparable with standard Nitrofurazone ointment
