Betula alba contained many biological active groups including pentacyclic triterpenes, flavones glycosides, saponins, polymeric proanthocyanidins, essential oi, vitamins, coumarins, saponins, tannins, sterol and many trace elements. It exerted many pharmacological effects including anticancer, immunological, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The present review will highlight the chemical constituents and the pharmacological effects of Betula alba.
